Take action on your dreams! Since 1996, Bennett Academy Of The Performing Arts, has created a talented community of musicians and actors from Westchester and Bronx County area. Bennett Academy started in a small dining room, in New Rochelle, with a newly graduated Music Major, award winning classical pianist and singer, Andrea Bennett. Ms. Bennett saw the need for multitalented children to get support in all their talents. Ms. Bennetts academy is the first African American and female owned Performing Arts Academy in southern Westchester. Our school’s success is seen in our students high NYSSMA scores, their performances On and Off Broadway, through our award winning film students and accomplished pop, gospel and R&B artists. We are a school of firsts! In 1996 our small band of five students made historical accomplishments being the first Afro Caribbeans to win The Cultural Heritage Competition in Advanced Piano. We train our students to be successful professionals in the entertainment industry, with our Artist Development and Master Classes. Our Acting students have auditioned and placed in prestigious BFA programs in the top Universities in the country. Talent Placement Program

Upon entering Bennett Academy we place our students in the correct category so they are with like minded students in their group classes. Our teachers gear the private lessons based on the department the student is in. Students work in professional theaters and concerts, and learn the important tools of what it entails to be apart of and to put a production together.

• Students can choose between three departments:

  • Primary- Hobbyist (30min)

  • Deluxe - Hobbyist who perform (45min)

  • Premiere-Professional Level (60-90 min) allows aspiring performers to attain specific goals that are tailor made for them and their talent. These students work in professional theaters and concerts, and learn the important tools of what it entails to be apart of and to put a production together.

• Teachers are trained in Holistic Instruction. This teaching style is personally crafted by the founder. The student not only learns the craft but learns about themselves; how to push their strengths, and acknowledge and replace their weaknesses with guided practice and rehearsal techniques. Building Confidence, and eliminating performance anxiety is apart of a long list of benefits the academy provides for its students.

• Our Online instruction has been updated to be just as effective as In Person, so you do NOT have to live near our studio to get the Bennett Academy Experience. We serve the world.

Our partner company The Talent Den offers expert online classes and upcoming webinars for aspiring, writers, filmmakers, editors, and playwrights and performing arts teachers. TheTalentDen.com, Bennett Academy, Polyphonic Entertainment, has everything creators, musicians, actors and filmmakers need to be successful. The Talent Den will be fully operational August 25th, 2023

A performer earns their spotlight! For 26 years students at the Bennett Academy of Performing Arts are in the spotlight all the time. At Bennett Academy students learn to perform and perform to learn.

History:

Bennett Academy was founded in 1996 by a young college graduate, Andrea Bennett (Award winning filmmaker, classical singer, and pianist.)

Upon achieving her Bachelors of Arts in Music, she started her career as a Music Teacher at a private school in New Rochelle, NY. The parents enjoyed the school concerts and plays and asked if their children could get private music instruction from her after school. For the next 26 years, the Academy has grown from a small after school program to fostering the talents of thousands, covering a litany of award winning Actors, Directors, Singers, Songwnd Musicians. Bennett Academy has also contributed to the entertainment industry by expanding to a production company, Polyphonic Entertainment that has produced Off Broadway plays, and films.
