Based on the Biblical Story of Joseph and His Twelve Brothers, and Romeo and Juliet, The King of the Rodeo is an exciting moral tale of love, forgiveness and building back broken family bonds. It tells the story of Jake Jessup the youngest Bull Rider in the West, who is secretly in love with Little Flower the daughter of the fierce Lakota Chief Otaktay. Being the father, Bill Jessup's, favorite, his three Jealous older sisters set up a wicked plot to have him and "go away", and ruining the lives of his beloved Little Flower, Father, and Little sister Emily.
The play made its first debut at the reputable, Off Broadway Theater American Theater of Actors. The play will launch its Westchester run at the beautiful Murphy Auditorium in New Rochelle, which is part of the Iona College Campus.
The King of The Rodeo covers the Civil War and Post Civil War era and the Gold Rush to the West. There will also be an interactive online info, on the historical characters depicted or spoken of in the play.
Written by playwright Andrea Bennett, This Musical comes to life with the music of Nashard Gales, Kat Spina and the wonderful acting and singing of our cast of students and professional theater actors. We will also have our advanced student musicians perform throughout the play.
Reviews for our April Show!:
"The show was great I had such a nice time. The story was interesting and was played very well by all the children. I particularly enjoyed the singing portion of the show."
"The Play was great! I was very impressed with the kids and their performances. It is a "must see!" The story line was really good! Sanise Lebron was amazingly good. She played her character to the tee!!"
"... the cast gave great performances as well really setting the tone of the play. There is total of SIX original songs and all are fantastic and move the story along perfectly. My favorite, "Dear daughters" is sung by the three sisters and is done both engagingly and hilariously. -"Remember the good times thats all we could do",was delivered by "Ames" and was done in a endearing way and stuck with me on my way out of theater..."
